The Chevrolet pick-up was converted from a coal car to a Gypsy Airstream camper. The large extension tent, bicycles / scooters and / or chairs can be taken on a trip in the accompanying trailer.
The classic shines with chrome and is lavishly colored, but has not lost any of its effectiveness. It is therefore the mobile dream for show truck enthusiasts.
This Gypsy Airstream is a unique piece and cannot be pigeonholed. Only with text, without the photos it is impossible to form an image of the truck. We therefore try to limit the text to factualities. If interested, we will unpack with an extensive viewing and explanation.
The line six has been replaced by a Chevy V8 350 (5.7 liter). The wheelhouse, steering column and four-speed automatic transmission of a Chevy Van were also used. The engine was completely overhauled by a recognized company and fitted with a Torker Intake and modified camshafts for a lot of torque at the bottom.
Every bolt and nut of this car has been replaced. The entire chassis has been steel and repainted in several layers.
The frame of the camper is made of metal. The front and back are made of wood, just like the interior paneling. Part of the exterior plating is made of stainless steel. The wooden rear doors and cabinets with carved wood in the interior come from an old Pipo car. Copper has also been used for various details. The countertops and sink are real Airstream attributes. The camper is fully equipped with a bunk bed, refrigerator, kitchenette, toilet, etc. and is well suited for 2 people. Additional sleeping places can be created by building the add-on tent.
The Gypsy Airstream is equipped with all kinds of special details that are not only fun, but also functional and comfort-enhancing. For example, the window controls have been made electric and power steering has been mounted. The switches and instruments in the dashboard have been adjusted and in the cabin are two luxury Captain Chairs from a Chevy camper Van. Everything covered with beautiful genuine leather. A self-made steering wheel completes the interior in the cabin.
The camper has LED lighting all around, matching a classic.
With the Gypsy Airstream you get, in addition to an unprecedented eye-catcher, also a well-oiled machine.
The complete restoration has been documented with many photos, which we are happy to show during a viewing.
